The benefits created from the legal/risk management and advocacy/government affairs efforts of the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) and Missouri REALTORS® can sometimes feel intangible, especially for projects or initiatives that span multiple years, the work done through these programs creates long-term tangible value and resources for members as well as the public.

State Political Coordinator Program State Political Coordinators (SPCs) are REALTOR® members who play an important role in the grassroots and advocacy efforts, who currently have or work to cultivate relationships with elected officials, in order to educate them on real estate industry and private property rights issues. Having commercial practitioners serve as SPCs is essential, to ensure legislators understand the potential impact of proposed legislation on the commercial sector.

Professional StandardsMissouri REALTORS® professional standards program handles complaints from REALTORS® or members of the public, alleging violations of the Code of Ethics by a member, and mediation or arbitration of commission disputes between members.

Missouri State Advocacy — Missouri REALTORS® Jefferson City-based lobbying team works nonstop to build relationships with legislators and educate them on private property rights issues. To see the General Policies Guide and our current talking points, check out our Legislative Visit Resources page.

REALTOR® Days at the Capitol REALTOR® Days are small local board/association group visits to Jefferson City every Tuesday and Wednesday during the state legislative session, providing an additional touchpoint between legislators and REALTORS®. These visits complement the work of our SPCs and lobbying team, by providing elected officials with diverse perspectives from practitioners about the potential impact proposed legislation could have in their districts.
