In this section, students will identify the benefits of renting a home or apartment, and the tenant's and landlord's rights and responsibilities. In addition, students will learn about fair housing which is a right protected by federal and state laws. Fair housing means you may freely choose a place to live without regard to your race, color, religion, sex, national origin, or simply because you are disabled or have children in your family. It is against the law to deny people the opportunity to live where they want to live.
