Portrait of Colin Allen

Colin Allen

Executive Director, American Property Owners Alliance

Property ownership is one of the best ways to build wealth, strengthen communities and support our national economy. For nearly two decades, I’ve played a central role in development and advocacy campaigns supporting homeownership and housing policy.

Current and aspiring property owners are facing new challenges today—from rising home prices and shrinking inventory to reduced tax benefits from owning a home. It will take an all-hands-on deck approach to restore property owner protections and ensure future generations can reap the benefits of homeownership.

As Executive Director at American Property Owners Alliance , I oversee efforts to educate property owners about federal issues and policies and mobilize a powerful collective of advocates to secure property owners’ rights and interests.

My mission is to provide avenues for current and aspiring property owners get involved in the political process and help them advocate for policies that create opportunity, build family wealth and protect their most significant investment.

Portrait of Shay Hata

Shay Hata

REALTOR® and Team Lead, Buy Sell Love Chicago Team

An Ivy League grad, I specialize in the sale of condos, single family homes and multi family homes in Chicago, the North Shore, and the nearby suburbs.  I help, on average, over 125 families per year purchase or sell homes in the Chicagoland area, resulting in over $50 million in transactions each year.

I am known for outstanding client service and pride myself on going above and beyond for every client at every opportunity, which delivers exceptional results.  I have superb communication skills and fast response times; I will get back to you within hours, if not minutes, and am a skilled negotiator who has my client’s best interests at heart.   As a born negotiator, I have been negotiating my entire life.  Starting at the age of 4 as the daughter of a single mom, I would stand outside our family bakery for hours and negotiate with people passing by to buy our baked goods so we could put food on the table.  As a teenager when we traveled to other countries, I wasn't allowed to buy an item unless I negotiated at least 1/2 off the starting price and most recently I completed Harvard's Negotiation and Leadership program to further hone my life long negotiation skills.  While I negotiate incredibly hard on behalf of my clients, I also pride myself on always being honest and believe strongly that it is not only my duty to represent my clients to the best of my ability, but also to educate them throughout the process so clients can make the best short and long term decisions possible.

I go above and beyond to find my buyers the home of their dreams even if that means door knocking and sending letters to homeowners in neighborhoods my buyers are interested in living to find them a home not currently listed if we can’t find something on the MLS that they love. And for those “hot” properties in multiple offers you can rest assured you’re in the best of hands due to my unique multiple offer strategy which ensures my clients almost always win in multiple offer situations. I have also renovated over 40 properties, know construction and home issues inside and out and have an extensive roster of service providers such as a plumbers, tile people, painters, contractors and more should you want to renovate your new home.  I also have a love for old homes so am well versed in how to deal with old house problems such as asbestos, lead based paint, old electrical and more.

For sellers, every property I sell receives a professionally designed website just for that property (ex. www.1831larchmont.com) as well as premier placement on Zillow, Trulia and Realtor.com. We also do online retargeting, mobile ads, professional photography, floor plans, 3D Matterport virtual tours, drone photography and more to make sure we sell your property for the highest price possible in the shortest amount of time possible.  I also partner with a professional organizer who will help you declutter your home and get it photo ready as well as a handyman whom I pay to make repairs so your home is in top notch shape before it goes on the market.
