Designations & Certifications
REALTOR® designations and certifications expand your network, skills, knowledge, and income. In 2013, the National Association of Realtors (NAR) reported that REALTORS® with at least one designation earned a median income of $61,100, compared to $33,500 for those without. Designations and certifications both represent significant professional growth for REALTORS®. While they enhance expertise in specific areas, designations and certifications differ in benefits and maintenance requirements:
Designations: When you receive your designation, you rent those letters annually to show your expertise. Each designation has its own annual dues, which fund your access to ongoing services, benefits, and resources.
Certifications: Earning a certification allows you to use the certification’s letters to signify your expertise. Each certification requires a one-time application fee, granting lifetime access to limited specific services and resources.
