I’ve completed some GRI courses in one state, but have relocated to another. Will my course work transfer?
-
Whether or not a state will accept another state’s courses will depend on the state and the courses. For example, states are encouraged to give credit for topics that are not highly state-specific, e.g., marketing and sales, or fair housing or other courses based on federal law. However, a state may require that you complete their agency course, even if you completed an agency course in another state. You should contact the state association education director in the state to which you are relocating and be prepared to provide them a list of the courses you have completed. If they will not accept the courses, you might also inquire about taking the course examination with the possibility of “testing out” of the course. Ultimately, however, these decisions are left to the state association to decide.

Do I get CE credit for taking the GRI courses?
-
Eight of the twelve GRI courses offered in 2008 have been approved for elective continuing education credit. (GRI-403, GRI-404, GRI-406, GRI-407, GRI-408, GRI-411, and GRI-412 are approved for 6 hours of elective credit each and GRI-405 for 3 hours of elective credit.)

I have completed all my GRI course work except for one or two classes, but am now relocating to a new state. How will this affect my GRI program?
-
You can work with your new state association as described above, or if it’s convenient, you might complete the program in the state in which you began it. Once you’ve completed the program, all states will recognize it. (see next question).
-
I earned my GRI in one state, but am now preparing to be licensed in another. Is my GRI still valid?
-
Yes, once you have earned the GRI, all other states will recognize it.
-
I need a replacement copy of my GRI certificate. The original was lost. Where do I obtain one?
-
Contact the state association from which awarded you the GRI designation.
-
I noticed that my GRI designation does not appear in NRDS. How do I get this to appear?
-
Contact your state association. State associations are the point of entry for GRI data. If you now belong to a state association different from the association that awarded you the designation, you may need to show proof of your designation.
-
I began my GRI course work 10 years ago. I’d like to complete it now. Is my original course work still valid?
-
You will need to discuss this with your current state association. It will likely depend on the courses. You may need to be prepared to repeat some courses or take additional ones that did not exist when you began the program. States are encouraged to help students complete the program within five years.

I have earned the GRI designation, but am planning to disaffiliate from the REALTOR® organization. May I still use the designation on my business card and marketing materials?
-
No. In order to use the GRI designation mark, you must be a member in good standing with the National Association of REALTORS®.
-
I want to use the GRI logo on my business card. Where can I get a camera-ready version?
-
NAR does not have camera-ready print logo copies, but you can download a file to provide to your printer.
-
I lost my GRI pin and need a replacement. Who can I contact?
-
You might first check with your state association to see if they offer replacement pins. If not, you can order directly from the California Association of REALTORS®, NAR’s preferred vendor for organization premiums. |
